Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of rehabilitation with reflexive stimulation on several physiological variables in the elderly. This experimental study involved 24 patients aged between 45 and 55 years. Additionally, patients aged 55 years also participated in this experimental study. They were examined for hypertension, hypotension, heart rate, pain index, blood glucose, and psychological state before and after the program. The study sample was homogeneous and equal in age, weight, height, and physiological variables. The sample was then divided into two groups: an experimental group and a control group, with each group consisting of 12 patients. The experimental group received hand massage treatment three times a week for eight weeks, totaling 24 massage sessions, each lasting 30 minutes. The control group did not receive any rehabilitation program. At the end of the treatment period, the experimental group showed significant improvement in all variables compared to the control group. From these results, the researcher concluded that reflexive massage had a significant impact on improving levels of hypertension, hypotension, resting heart rate, blood glucose, pain index, and psychological state. The researcher recommended considering such treatment for a range of medical conditions.
