Abstract

This research aims to study the effect of the variable motor learning approach on developing the skills of standing and falling shooting in handball among students of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences – University of Babylon. The study originated from the observation of weak shooting accuracy among students under changing game conditions, which prompted the researcher to first assess performance levels before applying the program, then implement a training program based on varied practice conditions, measure its impact on skill development, and finally compare the results of the experimental group with those of the control group after application. The researcher adopted the experimental method using two equivalent groups with pre- and post-tests. The sample consisted of 60 students: 25 in the experimental group, 25 in the control group, and 10 in the exploratory group. The experimental group underwent a program with varied conditions, such as shooting angles, execution speed, body positions, and game situations, while the control group received traditional training based on repetitive practice. The results showed statistically significant differences in favor of the experimental group in both skills, confirming that the variable motor learning approach is more effective than the traditional method in improving skill performance and increasing adaptability to changing situations.
