The Effect of Special Exercises Using Assistive Devices on Developing the Speed-Strength of the Arm Muscles and the Accuracy of the Overhand Serve in Volleyball

Abstract

The present study aimed to identify the effect of special exercises using assistive devices on the development of speed-strength of the arm muscles and the accuracy of the overhand serve in volleyball. The researchers hypothesized that there would be statistically significant differences between the pre-and post-tests in the research variables. An experimental approach was adopted due to its suitability for the nature of the research problem.  The research population was selected intentionally and consisted of the volleyball team of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, comprising 12 players, representing 100% of the population for the academic year (2025-2026). The findings revealed that training with assistive devices had a positive effect on improving the speed-strength of the arm muscles and the accuracy of the overhand serve in volleyball. The researchers recommend the implementation of special exercises using assistive devices to develop arm muscles, speed, strength, and enhance serve accuracy. They also suggest conducting similar studies on different samples and age groups in volleyball.
