Abstract

The aim of the study was to identify the effectiveness of motivational games in learning some basic football skills among students, specifically passing, dribbling, and shooting. The researcher used the experimental method with two equivalent groups (experimental and control) due to its suitability for the nature and objectives of the study. The sample consisted of 60 students, randomly divided into two groups of 30 students each. The experimental group underwent an educational program based on motivational games, while the control group was taught using the conventional instructional method. The experiment continued for a specified period within the scheduled educational units. Skill-based football tests were used to measure performance levels in passing, dribbling, and shooting, with both pre-tests and post-tests conducted for the two groups. The results showed statistically significant differences between the pre- and post-tests in favor of the post-tests for both groups. The findings also indicated that the experimental group outperformed the control group in the post-test across all the skills under study, demonstrating the effectiveness of motivational games in developing basic football skills among students. The researcher concluded that incorporating motivational games into football lessons is an effective teaching method that contributes to improving skill performance and increasing students’ motivation toward learning and active participation. The study recommended the integration of motivational games into physical education curricula and suggested conducting similar studies on other skills and different sports.
